Elisabeth Ayu Haryono, Academy Management Specialist, explained the history of SSE’s formation. She said that SSE was founded based on developments in the animation industry globally, so that it can also expand careers in the creative field by adapting to today’s increasingly sophisticated industries. Some of SSE’s works were also presented to students to provide new insights and build their creativity. Students are also invited to take a tour of the studio to see the work process of making animation directly. The tour was accompanied by the SSE team, Mahda Rizkia, Public Relations of SSE, and Wian Zulviqar, Creative Designer and Content Creator of SSE.

Going deeper, students are also presented with material regarding the stages of producing 3D animation works, also known as the 3D animation pipeline. The stages are divided into three, namely pre-production, production, and post-production.

“In the pre-production stage, we outline the design concepts and ideas that will be used in the production stage. If summarized, these stages will include scriptwriting, storyboarding, animatic, and concept design. This stage tends to be crucial so that the foundation of the story idea is strong and can be forwarded to the production stage,” said Ayu.

When it is already in the production stage, the designer team starts designing the approved concept. These activities include modeling, RnD, texturing, rigging, layout, and ending with animate. Finished at the production stage, the designer will do the finishing which is divided into several stages, such as lighting rendering, VFX, motion graphics, and ending with compositing.

Rangga added that the company visit was one of the learning media and an introduction for students to the animation industry. “SSE, which specializes in various fields, such as 2D & 3D Animation Productions, Character Development, Visual Effects, IP Management & Distribution, and Live Action Film, is very aligned with the knowledge learned in Media Production. So, this visit has the potential to open students’ horizons about the workflow and atmosphere that students will feel when they are involved in related industries,” said Rangga.
