Depok-The job opportunities that are getting wider and based on the speed of technological development in the digital era make every individual must quickly adapt and prepare to welcome this new technology-based era. Lack of awareness of self-preparation in the face of these changes makes many individuals experience failure in achieving their careers. Responding to this challenge, the Office Administration study program, Vocational Education Program at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) held a community service activity in the form of a webinar entitled “Brilliant Career Start with Early Preparation in the Digital Era” online on Saturday, May 28.

The Head of the Office Administration Study Program, also the head of the service, Radityo Kusumo Santoso, S.I.A., M.M., CPM ASIA., said that this online seminar was held to meet the expectations of changes in Industry 4.0, especially in the field of work and prepare individuals to face a new era. “This online seminar is also made to be a means of general intelligence regarding the opportunity to work in technology-based companies and what things will be faced in life in the future,” explained Radityo.

This community service activity which is carried out as one of the implementations of the tri dharma of higher education targets high school equivalent students and fresh graduates in Greater Jakarta Area as participants to prepare themselves for a career in the digital era.

The lecturers of the UI Vocational Office Administration study program were also present as resource persons to share experiences in their respective fields, namely Mila Viendyasari, S.Sos., M.Si. (Vocational Challenges in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0); Rezi Arlansyah Sori Pada, M.Si. (Influence Recruiter through CV); Mohammad Rida, M.Si. (Successful Following Job Interview); Radityo Kusumo Santoso, S.I.A., M.M., CPM ASIA. (Prepare Your Career with Digital Age Competence Skills); Istiadi, S.E., M.M., M.Sc. (Job Preparation); and Risca Fleureta Hudiyono, S.E., M.S.M. (Show a Positive Self Image via Social Media).

The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, welcomed this community service activity. “UI Vocational, as a vocational higher education institution, does not only focus on teaching on campus, but also provides benefits to the general public as the Office Administration study program does. Successful career achievement needs to be supported by competency development in the soft skills and hard skills of each individual. With this community service, I hope the audience can find out what competencies are needed in preparing for a career in the digital era,” concluded Padang.

To meet the importance of industry needs, the UI Vocational Education Program also has a UI Professional Certification Institute (LSP) to develop nationally recognized competencies. LSP UI is here to improve the quality of human resources in certain fields through various competency certification schemes to build superior, creative, and innovative human resources. Self-quality improvement through the competency test can be done in preparing for a future career. Thus, the absorption of the need for quality workers in the industry can be appropriate and on target.
