Depok-Avicenna Rahman Izzi and Nathania Ammara Salsabilla, students of the Tourism Business Management study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) succeeded in bringing home medals from the national level martial arts championship, 1st Indonesia Martial Art Games (IMAG) 2023. The martial arts event organized by the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) will be held during October 2023 and will compete in nine sports, namely fencing, shorinji kempo, ju-jitsu, hapkido, sambo, wrestling, wushu, kickboxing and taekwondo. Avicenna managed to get a silver medal in the hapkido, while Nathania won two gold medals in the kickboxing.

Avicenna took part in the competition process with the Individual Hyung category and continued with Hosinul (the art of pair self-defense techniques), then the Daeryun (fight) category. Avicenna competed with the name of the province of West Java. He also hopes that he can continue his struggle in various other matches and increase his achievements. “I thank all parties who have provided a lot of support. Hopefully I can take another opportunity and make the name of UI, West Java province and my parents proud again,” said Avicenna.

On the same occasion, carrying the name DKI Jakarta, Nathania won the Creative Forms Individual Woman and Creative Forms Team Woman categories. She won the two gold medals after going through the preliminary round and reaching the final round.

Nathania said, “I hope to get a lot of support and continue to develop in my field. Apart from that, I also want to continue to improve my skills in the field of kickboxing.” After winning the 2023 IMAG championship, Nathania will advance to the kickboxing match at the National Sports Week (PON) XXI Aceh-Sumatra Utara 2024.

The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, appreciated the achievements of the two UI Vocational students. “I congratulate Avicenna and Nathania who have made UI proud in this national competition. I am waiting for other achievements, both from Avicenna and Nathania, as well as other UI Vocational students,” concluded Padang.
