Depok-The halal tourism industry sector is an opportunity for economic growth, especially in Indonesia, which has a majority muslim community. This great potential needs to be accompanied by education about the use of halal labels in various tourism products, one of which is food. However, the management of halal food in the Indonesian tourism industry is currently still not implemented effectively. Anca Syah, Halal Life Style Influencer, was present as a resource person at the Paris Food Festival: Halal Food & Halal Lifestyle which was held online on Saturday, May 14 to educate the public about the importance of halal food management. The activity organized by the students of the Tourism study program is a form of implementation of the Event Management course learning.

Anca said that food management in various restaurants in Indonesia needed to get a halal certificate from a halal certification agency recognized by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), namely LPH LPPOM MUI, LPH Sucofindo, and LPH Surveyor Indonesia. “The increase in halal-certified products can be one of the factors in increasing the number of Muslim tourists to enjoy tourism in Indonesia without being afraid of the halalness of a food product,” Anca explained.

In his presentation, Anca also said that the management of halal food can be identified through product distribution from the start, product processing, product preparation, to product presentation. Each cooking ingredient to be processed must be separated from other non-halal products. Likewise, the cooking process must not use non-halal food ingredients, such as non-halal animals, cooking wine, rum, and other alcoholic products.

Anca added, “Currently, the government has provided assistance in the form of providing free halal certificates for MSMEs through a series of procedures. I hope that the facilities provided can be put to good use, so that it can encourage consumers to buy MSMEs products that have a halal label.”

In addition, the management of these halal products can also be a reference for students who have MSMEs in the food and beverage sector to develop their products so that they are halal certified,” said Auliya explaining.
