Pariaman – Pariaman City Government and Universitas Indonesia, especially the Vocational Education Program, signed an MoU for the One Family One Bachelor program. This program is conducted to prioritize underprivileged families so that they are able to lift underprivileged families out of poverty.
Pariaman Mayor Genius Umar hopes that with this program, underprivileged families can have a better education and income.
“With good education, they can work and earn a living, so that the economic level will be even better,” said Genius.
Genius Umar said that in the near future children from underprivileged families will be sent to the University of Indonesia’s Vocational Education Program to continue their education.
“In the near future we will send children from Kota Pariaman to UI for a higher quality Diploma program. So that after graduating children can work and lift their families out of poverty, “Genius added.
Priyanto as the Education Manager for the Vocational Education Program Universitas Indonesia said, so far students were dominated by students from the island of Java. It is hoped that with the One Family One Bachelor program, children from Pariaman can become students at the University of Indonesia.
“But my hope is that after graduating and working, they will not forget their origin and rebuild Kota Pariaman. What has been said by the Mayor of Pariaman, Genius Umar later, we will fight so that all of this can be realized, “he said.
