Depok-The Vocational Education Program of Universitas Indonesia (UI) made a collaborative visit in the fields of further education, student exchanges, research collaborations, and public lectures, also visiting lecturers with Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth, Australia. The visit was represented by Pijar Suciati, S.Sos., M.Si., Education, Student and Alumni Affairs Manager; Ngurah Rangga Wiwesa, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., Head of the Media Production Study Program; and Mareta Maulidiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., Head of the Public Relations Study Program. Also present at the meeting, Dr. Christopher Kueh, Associate Professor of Design and Dr. Kelly Choong, Advertising Study Program Coordinator at the School of Arts and Humanities, Edith Cowan University.

Pijar explained that the visit was a series of PUTI Q2 research chaired by Ngurah Rangga Wiwesa, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., with the title “Creative Digital Economy: How Young Creative Workers in Jakarta and Perth are Dealing with Covid-19”. She said, “The initiation of collaboration with ECU itself began with the scope of the School of Arts and Humanities at ECU which has similarities with several study programs with UI Vocational, namely Public Relations, Media Production, Multimedia Broadcasting, and Creative Advertising. In addition, we propose collaboration with the Tourism Business Management and Occupational Therapy study programs for schools or related faculties at ECU.”

The collaborations offered include student exchanges, research collaborations, inbound/outbound programs. In addition, UI Vocational and ECU also discussed continuing education programs and double degrees.

Furthermore, Pijar explained that UI Vocational continues to intensify cooperation with foreign universities in the field of education so that students have further study opportunities as well as insights from ECU lecturers through public lectures or inbound lectures. “For lecturers, this collaboration opens opportunities for outbound lectures and research collaborations so that the quality of teaching and research continues to improve,” said Pijar.

Christopher also stated that it was important for the proposals submitted to be implemented immediately. “For starters, we can hold a public lecture session while discussing further details regarding cooperation regarding student exchanges and further studies,” said Christopher.
