Depok-Two students from the Vocational Education Program at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) won gold and bronze medals in the 2023 Friendly Match national roller skating championship in Semarang, May 25-26, 2023. The two students were Jurnalis Nurhakim Baharizki and Barijani Mahesa Putra who won gold medals in the Team Sprint 500+D category. In addition, Hakim also won a gold medal for the 1000M category and a bronze medal for the Dobbin Sprint 200M category. Mahesa won a gold medal for the 500M+D category and a bronze medal for the 1000M category. From the achievements that have been made by the two, three gold medals and two bronze medals were successfully awarded to Hakim and Mahesa.
The competition, which was held at the Jatidiri Stadium, was attended by more than 700 of the best athletes from 67 roller skating clubs representing their respective regions. Hakim and Mahesa represented DKI Jakarta in the competition. Hakim said, “Our preparation for the national championship this time is training six times a week. The exercises include roller skating, gym, and cycling.”

The roller skating friendly match is part of the two’s preparations for the PON qualifying round which will be held in Semarang in August. Hakim who is also a student of the Tax Administration Study Program said that the challenge faced this time was adaptation to the track for racing. It is because they only tried the track one day before the match started.
Even though the intensity of their training is relatively minimal compared to other regions, both of them remain optimistic that they can beat other regional teams. This match was also the last match for Mahesa before graduating from UI Vocational.
“It is a pleasure for me to be able to contribute to many achievements in sports while studying at UI. Of course there is a lot of support provided by the campus every time I take part in various championships,” said Mahesa who is a student of the Public Relations study program, UI Vocational.

After successfully achieving this achievement, both Mahesa and Hakim will continue to face various roller skating competitions. One of them is the national selection for the 2023 Asian Games championship in June and the Pre PON XXI qualifications in August 2023. Previously, the two of them also represented Indonesia at the international championship Arena Geisingen International in Germany last April.
For this achievement, the Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D., said, “The achievements made by Hakim and Mahesa are a source of pride for all of us at UI Vocational. I hope that these achievements can go hand in hand with other academic achievements. Congratulations to Hakim and Mahesa.”
