Depok-Students from the Media Production study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), made a company visit to Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia, a media that presents various information about fashion and lifestyle in the form of magazines, both print and digital. Harper’s Bazaar is under the auspices of the Mugi Rekso Abadi (MRA) company, an Indonesian holding company which has various business units in the fields of magazine publishing, retail brands, hotels and restaurants, radio stations, and automotive companies. MRA has six subsidiary companies, namely print media, broadcast media, retail & lifestyle, food & beverage, automotive, and hotels & property.

Located at Wisma MRA, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Media Production students are invited to study the production of Harper’s Bazaar magazine. The industrial visit which was held on January 16, 2024 was in line with and relevant to the subjects studied in Media Production, namely fashion and lifestyle media. Not only Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia, MRA Media also produces other magazines that carry fashion and lifestyle themes, namely Herworld Magazine, Mother and Baby Magazine, CASA, and Parent Talk.

This was conveyed by Ria Lirungan, Editor in Chief of Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia. Ria explained that the editorial team is considered the ‘chef‘ in a media company. “The editorial team can direct the company according to the plan so that the content produced is appropriate to the audience.”

She also explained the various jobs carried out by the editorial team and public relations team. The public relations team‘s work is not only limited to collaboration through various events, but also establishes good relationships with brands, governments, related departments, as well as artists and influencers.

On this occasion, Media Production students also had the opportunity to visit various places at Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia. Starting from the photoshoot production room, editorial team work space, to production equipment storage space.

Head of the Media Production Study Program, Ngurah Rangga Wiwesa, M.I.Kom., said that this study visit activity would provide a new experience for students to see the world of work of an international scale company. “I hope that this visit will be useful and provide a provision for them to learn about the media production process, especially in the field of fashion and lifestyle media, in more depth than the industry directly,” said Rangga.
