DEPOK –
A lecture environment that is completely different from high school sometimes makes new students unprepared. Therefore, support from the environment such as family, classmates, seniors, and alumni is needed. They will feel more comfortable and ready when there is full support from their environment.
“We realize that full support from families and other students will have an effect when they go to college, so we created a series of programs so that students feel comfortable studying,” said Dyah Safitri, Head of the Information and Document Management Study Program at the University of Indonesia. The step taken was to make a meeting with the parents of students which was held on Friday, October 12, 2018 in the Intraco room of the UI Vocational Education Program. The event was attended by the teaching staff of the MID Study Program and the head of the humanities group of the Vocational Education Program, Dr. Jajang Gunawijaya. On this occasion, he conveyed the ins and outs of lectures in the Vocational Education Program and all the rules that must be followed by MID Study Program students.
The next event was the Revenge Evening held by the MID Student Association. This event was held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 by combining music performances and sharing knowledge and experience with MID Study Program alumni. There were three alumni invited to this event, namely Kevin Dio Wicaksono (class of 2009), Kevin Breze (class of 2015), and R. Gina Oktaviani (class of 2010). The alumni shared their knowledge and experience on how to study at the MID Study Program, field work practices, organizing both in the Student Association and BEM, to the work experience they were engaged in after graduating from the MID Study Program.
With this event, it is hoped that new students will gain enthusiasm, knowledge, and tricks to undergo college while remaining active in organizing and making achievements during their three years of study at the MID Study Program. The direct injection of enthusiasm from the alumni is also expected to be able to provide new insights into the prospects of graduates of the MID Study Program who are still wide open in the field of archival science.
