Depok-Students of the Multimedia Broadcasting Study Program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia succeeded in winning 2nd and 3rd place in a national creative video competition organized by Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). UI Vocational students were divided into two groups, namely the CSI group consisting of Cintya Agustiyaningsih, Muhammad Reza Nur Hakim, and Shaffa Khairiyah Sunarya and the AB Production group consisting of Avira Erinistia and Bella Rachmafanny. This competition is held on August 2 until September 12 2021 and attended by more than 11 universities in Indonesia with the theme #GaPakeNantiChallenge.

Cintya Agustiyaningsih, a representative from the CSI group, said, “We are trying to make the video interesting by carrying a concept that is close to millennials, namely YouTubers who are creating horror content and are constantly harassed by their family members who ask for help for bank transactions, and how BNI provides solution to solve it. My team and I brainstormed first to create the concept. Armed with the courses we have studied previously, it is certainly an added point for us that it becomes easier to create interesting video concepts.”

Avira Erinistia, a representative of the AB Production group, also added, “By participating in video competitions like this, we can continue to hone the skills in videography that we previously learned in class. In addition, the competition that we participate in is also a benchmark for how far our theoretical understanding can be applied in practice like this.”

UI Vocational students continue to be provided with practical activities as a form of implementation of the 70% practical and 30% theory curriculum at UI Vocational. In addition, they are also facilitated with national competency certificates in their respective fields as support when they face the industrial world after graduation.

Arius Krypton Onarelly, M.Si. as the Head of the UI Vocational Multimedia Broadcasting Study Program explained, “The need for the industry in the multimedia field is currently increasing, considering how the development of multimedia is also growing rapidly. So, the industry also needs graduates who already have skills in their fields.”

“Through competitions like this, students can improve their skills, as well as add to the portfolio they need when they enter the industry. Of course, we are very supportive of students in competition activities, both academic and non-academic,” Arius concluded.[:]
