Depok-Students of the Media Production study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) have just made an industrial visit to PT Mattel Indonesia, a subsidiary of the toy and entertainment industry based in the United States, Mattel Inc. The visit, which was carried out on December 4, 2023, was accompanied by the Head of the Media Production Study Program, Ngurah Rangga Wiwesa, M.I.Kom.

Rangga explained that the industrial visit this time was carried out so that students would get lots of insight and creative ideas for the work they would create after graduating from UI Vocational. “I hope that the opportunity to visit this industry will become a forum for them to learn directly from practitioners to apply this knowledge,” said Rangga.
Mattel’s iconic products are Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, American Girl, Thomas & Friends, UNO, and others. Additionally, Mattel Inc has licenses in partnership with global entertainment companies, such as film and television content, gaming, digital, music and more. PT Mattel Indonesia is listed as one of the factories that produces the most dolls for Mattel Inc compared to other country franchises.

Apart from that, students also had the opportunity to watch the process of making Barbie, from the molding process to painting, guided by Adyanto Mendila, Manager of Lean Supplier PT Mattel Indonesia. Apart from seeing the process of making Barbie, students were also introduced to the history of Barbie from Pryo Sutyoko, Communication Manager of PT Mattel Indonesia.
