Depok-Family Women’s Association (IWK) Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia held the activity “Training to Make Batik Coletan With Anggun Batik” on December 1, 2023. Located in the Bogor area, the activity involving UI Vocational female academics was carried out to provide knowledge about batik and foster a love for the noble arts and culture of the Indonesian nation.

Head of the UI Vocational IWK, Dewi Anggraini, said that the activities included in the cultural visit were one of the programs carried out by the UI Vocational IWK to strengthen relationships between members. She explained, “The various programs carried out by the UI Vocational IWK also provide a forum for UI Vocational female academics to increase their knowledge and experience in culture. This time, the batik program is the closing activity of UI Vocational IWK and we hope that other cultural programs can be held in the following years.”
Batik Anggun Bogor Regency is one of the MSMEs that has been established since 2013. The typical Bogor Regency batik has a workshop gallery that produces stamped and written batik with various motifs that have a history and philosophy for the people of Bogor Regency.

Through this batik activity, IWK members can learn about various cultural values passed down by generations of the nation. Apart from that, creativity in batik can be an added point for creating batik works. Making batik can also shape a person’s character to be more responsible, disciplined and thorough because the process is quite long and complicated. Apart from that, batik can also foster entrepreneurial skills. So, the batik results are made into commercial products.
