Depok – VOKHUMFEST (Vocational Public Relations Festival) is part of the Community Service Program from Vocational Education Program Universitas Indonesia which focuses on empowering 33 Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the fields of products, services, technology, and local broadcasting institutions / communities throughout Jabodetabek by creating a Marketing Communication program Integrated. This program aims to assist MSMEs in branding and promotion of their products / services.

VOKHUMFEST was held on the Boulevard Campus of the Universitas Indonesia, Depok. This event is a collaboration between lecturers, practical assistants, and students of Public Relations, Advertising, and Broadcasting students of 2018

This year, VOKHUMFEST was held in the afternoon until evening with the theme Ramadhan Kareem

Hardika Widi Satria, S.Hum., M.Si, as the head of Community Service said that VOKHUMFEST is a community service in the form of a bazaar marketing event collaborates with the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) course for Public Relations, Advertising and Broadcasting UI students from 2019. “This year we are fostering 23 MSMEs from managing products and services as well as 10 MSMEs in the broadcasting sector, namely Local / Community TV and Youtube Channel.” said Hardika. Hardika said that students and lecturers were actively involved in compiling branding and promotion programs using the IMC knowledge they had learned in class. “Students under the guidance of lecturers have designed and produced UMKM branding and promotion needs. They have made logos, social media activations, packaging designs and sales promo programs so that MSMEs can be more recognized and easier to promote their products / services. Tararin, a Public Relations student explained that the programs made are low cost high impact IMC programs such as sales promotion, personal selling, public relations, advertising, experiential marketing, which almost all use digital platforms such as social media and chat apps. “We are trying to adjust the character of the UMKM with the existing IMC tools so that each UMKM strategy is different,” he added.

Students also help MSMEs to run IMC programs that have been planned for three months, then carry out evaluation and monitoring and assistance to MSMEs so that they can run IMC independently in the future.

Galih Herlambang, the owner of SERUPA coffee, one of the Vokhum Fest UMKM partners, stated that SERUPA Coffee was greatly helped by this program. “The fresh and new ideas of students really open their horizons. They also help with implementation. It was very helpful!” said Galih.

On the same occasion, Head of the UI Vocational Public Relations Unit, Mareta Maulidiyanti explained that the Vocational Education Program runs a curriculum that focuses on practicum so that it is targeted to be able to produce work-ready graduates. “Vocational UI implements curriculum 321 where 70% of the portion is practice. Students study for 3 semesters in class and laboratory, 2 semesters studying in industry and 1 semester of internship so that when they graduate they are truly competent in their fields”
