Depok-Yayla Amour Mihrijan, students of the Multimedia Broadcasting study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) won second place in a national-level swimming competition. Along with students from other faculties, Vito Waradana (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences); Nicholas Elbert (Faculty of Engineering); and Ariel Ekapradhana Nurcoyo (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences), they are involved in swimming and competed in the medley relay category.

The various sports competitions held by the The State University of Jakarta in the framework of the 59th Anniversary were attended by 1,569 students from 98 tertiary institutions throughout Indonesia. A total of eleven sports were competed, namely fencing; athletics; basketball; volleyball; badminton; futsal; indoor hockey; karate; martial arts; swimming; and taekwondo. The sports week will be held throughout late May 2023.

Amour, who has been involved in swimming since he was in elementary school, said that there were difficulties in preparing for the competition. He explained, “Having been on a vacuum in the world of swimming for five months, it made me need to re-adjust my diet and exercise schedule. Besides that, the tightness of the lectures meant that I had to do swimming practice in the morning and physical exercise in the afternoon.”

According to him, dividing time well for socializing, studying, and practicing is the main key so that he can excel. In addition, maintaining diet, physical and mental is no less important.

Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, fully supports and appreciates Amour’s achievements. He said, “I hope that Amour and other students can continue to excel, both in the academic and non-academic fields. So, UI can produce quality graduates who are able to compete nationally and internationally in any field.”
