Depok-The Universitas Indonesia Vocational Public Relations Student Association (HM VOKHUM UI), just held a social service activity on October 28, 2023 at the Tanjung Barat Orphanage, Jakarta. The activity with the theme “The Attraction of Social Media and Its Application to Generation Z” aims to provide insight to orphanage children through various activities. Based on these issues, it is hoped that children in orphanages can understand the positive and negative influences of social media and how to use it wisely.
In the material presentation session by students, orphanage children were directed to become intelligent, ethical social media users, promote positive communication, build healthy social networks, and understand the personal and social impacts of online interactions. The presentation of the material was carried out interactively between students and children from the orphanage.

HM VOKHUM UI succeeded in collecting donations which were opened to the wider community and handed over to the Tanjung Barat Orphanage for their daily needs. This activity was also enlivened with various exciting activities, such as playing together, sessions listening to informative material, special activities in the form of printing hand replicas, and eating together. The aim of this series of events is to create a warm atmosphere full of togetherness and strengthen relationships between students and orphanage children through a persuasive approach.
Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Mareta Maulidiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., said that these positive activities continue to be promoted and implemented to train students to manage events. “The various programs held by students certainly apply the communication or public relations knowledge they have learned in class. UI Vocational always supports positive activities carried out by students,” said Mareta.

Apart from giving memorable speeches, the orphanage children also presented a special performance in the form of singing together for the students. Veronika, one of the administrators of the Tanjung Barat Orphanage, expressed her thanks to HM VOKHUM UI. She said, “We would like to thank you because this activity was very impressive for us. Both me and the children from the orphanage hope that the UI Vocational students can return to the Tanjung Barat Orphanage and share more knowledge with us.”
