Depok-Journalist Hakim Baharizki, a student of the Tax Administration study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), has successfully achieved brilliant achievements at the 21st Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) 2024 in the roller skating sport. Hakim managed to win three gold medals for the 500+D Team Sprint team event; the 3000m Relay team event; and the 10km Team Time Trial (TTT) team event, and one silver medal in the 200m Dobbin Sprint individual event. Hakim represented the province of DKI Jakarta and competed with more than 100 roller skate athletes from all provinces in Indonesia. Located in Sigli City, Pidie Regency, the competition for the roller skating sport was held on September 10-17, 2024.

Hakim said that the selection process for the preparation of PON XXI took months. The selection was based on the performance of each training, so that the routine training that Hakim did for approximately three years could make him one of the athletes competing in the prestigious sporting event. “From the five numbers that I participated in, I managed to bring home four medals. This is my highest achievement in competing in PON,” said Hakim.
Hakim faced many challenges during the preparation for PON XXI. One of them was an injury to the leg area that occurred repeatedly and required him to be hospitalized. In addition, Hakim also had to divide his time between studying and training. However, this did not hinder Hakim’s strong determination to reach the highest podium at PON XXI. Hakim added, “PON XXI is one of my targets as a roller skate athlete. In the future, I will focus on finishing my studies first and continue to maximize my role as a student.”

Director of UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, gave high appreciation for Hakim’s achievements as an athlete. According to him, a place for students to work and excel can be done from various activities, both academic and non-academic. “UI Vocational will always support the best performances displayed by students from various fields. Hakim’s achievements are one of the awards, not only for UI Vocational, but also for the province of DKI Jakarta which is on Hakim’s back. Once again, I congratulate Hakim on his achievements,” said Padang.
A month before competing in PON XXI, Hakim also represented Indonesia in the 15th National Aerobic Cup National Skating Championships Elite-College in Taiwan. In the competition, Hakim managed to occupy sixth place in the 200m Dual Time Trial and seventh place in the 500+D.
