Depok-Raissa Shofia Tsabita Putri, student of the Multimedia Broadcasting Study Program, Vocational Education Program at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) got the second position at the 2022 UI Fashion Week event. This year, UI Fashion Week was attended by around 400 participants through a selection process, such as catwalks and photo shoots with several brands involved.
Raissa successfully passed all stages in the selection process and became one of the Top 3 Models who received a three-year contract with the model agency, Whoknows Model. In the final stage, she had the opportunity to bring clothes from several local brands, namely Kurantaka, pheme.studio, Ordinair Label, and Noise Studios.

“It is one of the best opportunities, where I can introduce several local brands, one of which is Kurantaka which is a brand from the UI Fashion Club, to the wider community,” said Raissa.
In addition, Raissa admitted that this kind of competition is a medium to display self-confidence, increase self-worth, develop potential and achievements in the modeling field, and help advance the fashion industry, especially in Indonesia.
“I believe that beside to academic education, we also need to develop ourselves, one of which is by competing and challenging ourselves to keep growing,” said Raissa.
The UI Vocational Education and Student Affairs Manager, Pijar Suciati, S.Sos., M.Si., said she really supports students to compete and work. “The fashion industry is currently one of the areas of the creative economy that is developing in Indonesia. UI Vocational continues to provide support to students in giving their roles, one of which is to improve the fashion industry in Indonesia as Raissa did,” said Pijar.

The modeling competition held by the UI Fashion Club has been held since September 2021 through the UI Fashion Week Model Hunt. The UI Fashion Week event is held every year and is open to the public. UI Fashion Week is a place of expression for Universitas Indonesia students who have an interest and passion in the fashion industry.
Responding to Raissa’s achievements, the Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, expressed his pride. “It is a matter of pride for us, all UI Vocational academics, if students can develop their potential. Of course we are waiting for further achievements from our other students.”
