Depok-A total of 816 final semester students of the Vocational Education Program of the University of Indonesia (UI) took the competency certification test for intermediate expert candidates. The competency test is carried out by the Professional Certification Institute (LSP UI), an institution that implements professional certification activities that receives a license from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). The students who were facilitated by the certification test were prospective associate experts who graduated from Vocational UI who had successfully completed their studies at Vocational UI. The competency test was carried out throughout August 2020.

The competency test is intended for UI Vocational students for free. “A total of 500 participants received financing support from the Work Competency Certification Program (PSKK) organized by BNSP, while the remaining 316 students were financed by UI Vocational,” said Dr. Rahmi Setiawati, S.Sos., M.Si, Chairman of LSP UI.

Rahmi also explained that there were nine competency schemes that were tested, namely: Financial Services and Banking Teller; Office Executive Administrative Assistant; Basic Archive Management; Level 5 Insurance Underwriting Management; Creative Strategic Planning and Ad Creation; Analysis of Personal Income Tax Taxation; Tourism Guidance; Public Relations Officer; and Associate Accounting Technician.

On the same occasion, the Manager of Education and Student Affairs of UI Vocational, Priyanto, SS., M.Hum explained, “UI Vocational prepares its students by creating a curriculum based on work competencies in their respective professions. The certification that will be obtained plays a very important role in showing the skills and competencies they have. Thus, UI Vocational graduates not only have an associate expert diploma but also a certificate that is recognized by the profession.”

Priyanto added that UI Vocational graduates on average are absorbed into work within 0-3 months after graduation. “UI Vocational implements the 321 curriculum. For 3 semesters of studying on campus, 2 semesters studying in industry, and 1 semester of internship. Thus, UI Vocational graduates have been educated to be ready for work and have competencies in accordance with industry needs. On the other hand, the existence of a Competency Certificate from BNSP also has a big role to increase the competitiveness of graduates,” said Priyanto,

With the mission of creating graduates who are competitive and highly competitive, UI Vocational prepares a curriculum based on competency based on competence and relevant to the times. The UI Vocational Education Program has 13 study program options for the Diploma three level, namely: Hospital Administration; Accounting; Public Relations; Creative Advertising; Multimedia Broadcasting; Insurance and Actuarial Administration; Financial and Banking Administration; Office Administration; Tax Administration; Tourism; Records and Archives Management; Physiotherapy; and Occupational Therapy.
