Depok-Management of the Family Women’s Association (IWK) for the Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) carried out hydroponic training activities at the Organic Agro Edutourism Village, Mulyaharja, South Bogor District, Bogor City on November 4, 2022. These activities include hydroponic tracking and training.

During this activity, Dewi Anggraini, as Chair of the UI Vocational IWK, said that the purpose of the hydroponic training activity was aimed at providing basic knowledge of hydroponic vegetable cultivation techniques carried out on a household scale. Meanwhile, the objectives of the Household Scale Hydroponic Training are to: (1) provide basic knowledge of hydroponic cultivation techniques; (2) provide knowledge of various types of hydroponic systems; (3) provide basic knowledge about hydroponic nutrition; and (4) provide knowledge about hydroponic vegetable cultivation business analysis.

Mulyaharja Organic Agro Edutourism is a 23 hectare rice field area that has been developed by the Adult Farmers Group since 1987. Then in 2013, the rice field was planted with organic rice and was developed into an agricultural educational tourism location in 2017.

Views of rice fields and mountains immediately greet visitors when they come to the Mulyaharja Organic Agro Edutourism. The place offers nature tourism activities as well as education about organic farming. For visitors who want to track, guides are provided who are ready to take them to special routes to follow the rice fields with direct views of Mount Pangrango and Mount Salak. “Visitors can also go to catfish ponds or sheep pens owned by residents of the surrounding villages at the same time. There are also workshops on making compost and biogas from cow dung, selecting organic rice seeds, plowing with buffalo or tractors, and harvesting,” said Kifin Ramadhan as Operational Manager of Agro Eduwisata Organic Mulyaharja.
