Ruly explained that green skills are specific skills needed in green jobs, namely jobs that contribute to environmental conservation and sustainable development. “These green skills are diverse, for example related to technical skills, such as sustainable administration. In addition, there are also green soft skills, such as environmentally aware problem solving, as well as green transformative skills that focus on developing a more sustainable administration system,” said Ruly.

Furthermore, Ruly said that technical skills in sustainable administration, such as environmentally friendly resource management, sustainable procurement document and procedure management, and environmentally friendly use management in the company need to be done. “In the future, we can also develop various competencies that focus on sustainability to create broader changes,” Ruly added.

Director of UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, said that global challenges, such as climate change, economic inequality, and technological change require a holistic approach to ensure growth and prosperity. Padang said, “To create a better future in facing these challenges, it is important to empower future leaders through quality vocational education with a foundation of sustainability. I hope students can apply the knowledge they receive when they enter the industry later.”

OVAL 2024 is also a form of community service by providing training to vocational school students and teachers, through several workshops, such as public speaking, personal branding, resume and interview clinic, and MSMEs mentoring. The mentoring is in the form of product photography training, business model canvas, and holding a mini bazaar by students in collaboration with local UMKM. This program is an important platform for sharing knowledge, skills and strategies, opportunities and challenges of green work.
