Depok-Qusnul Khotimah, a student of the Public Relations study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), won the title of Favorite Putri Duta GenRe Central Jakarta 2024. This prestigious annual contest organized by the Sub-dept. of Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control (Sudin PPAPP), Central Jakarta, is open from the end of June to July 2024.
In the event, more than 80 participants were selected until 16 finalists were selected who were quarantined until the Grand Final night at the Muhammad Mashabi Arts and Culture Training Center Building, Central Jakarta, on July 17, 2024. Qusnul said that the Duta GenRe event was held to select the best male and female teenagers to become role models and inspirations for teenagers.
In addition, the presence of the Duta GenRe is expected to provide an understanding to teenagers about the maturity of marriage age so that they are able to continue their education, career, and marriage with full planning. “I see the potential in myself and want to share knowledge with the surrounding environment, especially the younger generation who still have a lack of understanding of self-maturity. So, the community empowerment program with other Duta GenRe Central Jakarta 2024 friends can be a solution to these problems,” said Qusnul.

She further said, throughout the quarantine period, the finalists were provided with various knowledge about preventing early marriage, free sex, and drugs. The importance of insight into free association needs to be voiced to teenagers. Free sex behavior will have negative impacts, such as the transmission of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV/AIDS, as well as the potential for abortion. In addition, free sex also results in Unwanted Pregnancy.
Based on BKKBN data, in 2022, around 52 thousand teenagers under the age of 19 applied for marriage dispensation. In the competition, Qusnul won the title of Favorite Putri Duta GenRe Central Jakarta 2024 based on the assessment during quarantine, the aspect of likes on Instagram, and the collection of votes and accumulated in the Grand Final. Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, said that events such as Duta GenRe are a place for the younger generation to channel their talents, aspirations, and knowledge so that they can go directly to society.
He also said that this is in line with UI Vocational which continues to support its students to work as a young generation who are ready to provide a direct positive impact on society.
“I hope that young generations like Qusnul and other Duta GenRe can continue to emerge, so that they become agents of change for society and realize 2045 Golden Indonesia. Hopefully, the various programs carried out by the Duta GenRe Central Jakarta 2024 can be realized and receive a positive response from the community,” said Padang.
