JAKARTA – The link between the industry and the Study Program in the UI Vocational Education Program is getting tighter. Such as the Information and Document Management Study Program (MID). Today 38 MID students and lecturers attended the workshop on organizing the National Archives Information System (SIKN) and Phase II National Archives Information Network (JIKN) as one of the steps to prepare the MID student industry courses at the ANRI archival network node.

As mandated by Article 12 of Law No.43 of 2009 concerning Archives, ANRI (National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia) is tasked with establishing a National Archival Information System (SIKN) to provide authentic and complete information in realizing archives as the backbone of the management of state administrators and the collective memory of the nation. To carry out the use of the SIKN information technology application, ANRI formed the National Archival Information Network (JIKN). “As a national network center for SIKN and JIKN, ANRI needs to provide guidance to network nodes and the general public. One of them is a workshop for students, “said Desi Pratiwi, Head of the SIKN Center and JIKN National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Phase II workshop took place at Park Regis Hotel, Kemang, South Jakarta on September 10, 2018. “The collaboration between the University of Indonesia MID Study Program and ANRI as one of the loci of the SIKN practice provides great benefits for students while studying archival information system courses. They can immediately apply the knowledge they have about SIKN and JIKN to the ANRI archival network nodes both in government agencies, institutions, and state-owned enterprises, “said Dyah Safitri, head of the Information Management and Documentation Program for UI Vocational Education Program.

Following on from the first phase of the SIKN and JIKN organizing workshop held in mid-May, the objective to be achieved in this workshop was to provide understanding regarding the procedures for operationalizing the SIKN JIKN application to students before carrying out the Archival Information System practicum. In addition, the workshop also aims to provide a briefing for students in the fifth semester of the UI Vocational Education Program who will go into the field to conduct industrial lectures at the ANRI archival network nodes in the Greater Jakarta area. Students who take part in this workshop will be distributed to the ANRI information network nodes to directly apply the knowledge of archival enrichment archives at each network node.

In this way, it is hoped that SIKN and JIKN can run optimally because from the beginning coaching and understanding has been done to students who will be the vanguard in the implementation of SIKN and JIKN. The hope is that they can transmit the knowledge and skills in the SIKN and JIKN to institutions that are industry partners of the UI vocational education program MID study program.
