Depok-The existence of young musicians on campus can be one of the movements that change the ecosystem in the music industry in Indonesia, even the world. All of these ecosystem changes are not impossible for the Golden Generation of 2045. The Media Production study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), one of the study programs that aims to produce people in various creative industries, including the music industry, launched WIRE, a music record label that is able to facilitate and support students’ musical talents. Focusing on independent music, WIRE offers a place for young musicians to explore, record, and distribute their work to a wider market.
Ngurah Rangga Wiwesa, M.I.Kom., Head of the Media Production Study Program, said that through cross-disciplinary collaboration, WIRE not only aims to produce quality music, but also to create an ecosystem that is educational, innovative, and ready to support campus musicians to achieve their best potential in the music industry.

“Through WIRE, students will learn and express their potential in the music world in a more complex and responsible way. Hopefully, this music record label will accommodate young generation musicians to show their creative works to a wider audience,” said Rangga.
Wirehouse 2024 is a manifestation of the students’ enthusiasm in providing space for young musicians to perform and be heard. The Wirehouse 2024 event was held on November 7, 2024 at the UI Vocational Auditorium and Literacy Park. The event, which uses the 360° Music Showcase concept, provides full freedom for musicians to explore and collaborate without limits.

WIRE strives to create an environment that not only supports musical growth but also educates musicians about essentials such as copyright, distribution, and independent music management. In addition, WIRE is part of the Media Production study program’s teaching factory for the music and audio concentration laboratory, as well as the MBKM Student Entrepreneurship Project in the form of developing an independent label.
Through collaboration with organizations and the music industry, such as WAMI and TuneCore, WIRE hopes that campus musicians can achieve the recognition they deserve in the professional music scene. The Wirehouse 2024 event features showcase performances by several musicians who are students, namely Secret Hideaway, Juzzer, and Arteeich.
