Depok-Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) through the Financial and Banking Administration Study Program in collaboration with PT Bursa Efek Indonesia and PT Indopremier Sekuritas, held a National Capital Market Competition “Independence Capital Market Competition 2020”. This event is a tangible form of vocational higher education synergy with the industry, students have the competencies needed by the market, especially in terms of investment.
In the end of the competition, Vocational Education Program UI held an Awarding Day “Freedom of Investment in the New Normal Era” on Thursday (12/11). Presenting Dr. Ahmad Saufi, S.Si., M.Sc. (Director of Partnership and Alignment of Business and Industry (MITRAS DUDI), Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia); Padang Wicaksono, S.E, Ph.D (Deputy Director of the UI Vocational Education, Research and Student Affairs); and Hasan Fauzi (PT Bursa Efek Indonesia).
Director of MITRAS DUDI Kemendikbud, Dr. Ahmad Saufi, S.Si., M.Sc appreciated this competition as a breakthrough in the development of vocational education. According to him, this activity is in line with the increasing interest in investment among young people. Capital market data shows that the portion of investors is dominated by the millennial generation, which is as much as 60%. “Smart investing can be introduced during the student period, especially in order to face changes in the future. This activity is able to hone student skills in managing finances and make investment an attractive vehicle for the younger generation. In addition, this skill is able to build an entrepreneurial spirit and business ideas to create minimal employment opportunities for oneself, “he said.
Ahmad Saufi also said that the partnership activity with industry was able to create a link and match between work and the campus as a producer of ready-to-work graduates.
Furthermore, Padang Wicaksono, explained that this national competition was part of the Public Relations Strengthening Program for the Partnership for Industry, Business and the World of Work (IDUKA). “By managing competitions together with the IDX, students learn about important aspects of investment. When competing, they will further explore how the capital market moves and works. So it is hoped that when they graduate from the Finance and Banking Administration study program, fresh graduate students will no longer be stuttering and adapt easily, “he said.
He said, “This event is an effort to create links and matches. Various programs are carried out, starting from curriculum preparation involving industry, apprenticeship programs, and also collaborative programs for organizing competitions like this. These efforts have shown improvement results and show the link & match is starting to build. From the graduate side, for example, Vocational graduates are absorbed into work within 0-3 months after graduation. Even with the Industrial and Regional Cooperation Program and internships, students often get a job in the final semester, “said Padang.
The National Capital Market Competition “Independence Capital Market Competition 2020” took place from September – November 2020 with three types of competition, Online Investment Theory, Online Investment and Paper Contest. The competition was attended by 216 participants from 35 universities and polytechnics throughout Indonesia.
The winners in the Online Investment category are Wahyu Dwi Kartika – Semarang State Polytechnic (First Winner); Justina Sirait – University of North Sumatra (Runner Up); and M. Gabril Asade – Andalas University (Third Place). Next, the winners in the Online Theory category were Antonius – Multimedia Nusantara University (First Place); Angela Natasha – Atmajaya University Yogyakarta (Runner Up); and Nolas Veta – Jakarta State Polytechnic (Third Winner). In the Paper Contest category, the first prize went to Raditya Krisna Pradana and Shinta H Romadewanti – Gadjah Mada University; the second winner was Rizka Ismi Khoiriah & Ananda Nadya Istiqomah – Jakarta State Polytechnic; and the third winner is Nur Azizah & Harpiyansa – University of Muhammadiyah Malang .
