Depok-Lecturers of the Vocational Education Program at the Universitas Indonesia conducted community service activities in the form of education and increasing financial literacy for residents of Pengasinan Village, Depok City, West Java on October 5, 2021 at Puspita Pengasinan Junior High School, Depok. This community service activity, which is one of the university’s tri dharmas, was carried out by Karin Amelia Safitri, S.Pd., M.Si., Debrina Vita F., S.Si, M.Si, and Nur Fadilah Dewi, MKM. This activity is collaborating with the 112nd Manunggal TNI Manunggal Village Development Task Force (TMMD) in 2021 at the Depok Kodim by implementing local health protocols.


Karin Amelia Safitri, S.Pd., M.Si., as the head of the community service program, said, “Through the theme “Financial and Physical Health Solutions in a Pandemic Period”, this program targets housewives because they have a big role in managing the finances of the family. We also educate them on how to record and manage expenses in their respective households.”

Furthermore, Karin explained that as many as 45 residents of Pengasinan Village together carried out financial recording practices during this activity. β€œIn managing finances in the household, mothers are asked to change the ideal pattern of saving and also recording posts, both their household income and expenses. They are also introduced to financial service products, such as insurance, pension funds, and also the capital market, as well as the basic concepts of these products,” said Karin.


In addition, this program also provides education about the dangers and how to prevent ARI (acute respiratory infection). Covid-19 is also one of the most infectious ARI diseases and has a major impact on changes in the social order in terms of health and finance that is currently being faced by the entire world population.

“With this program, we hope to help community groups, especially housewives in Pengasinan, Depok City, in managing and planning their household finances for the future, as well as providing access to information about financial service products, as well as the importance of preventing ARI disease. So, we are all able to get through this difficult pandemic period well,” Karin concluded.[:]
