Depok-Caithlyn Arvianti, a student of the Tourism Business Management study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), won the title of 3rd Runner Up and Favorite West Java Tourism Ambassador 2025 at the Grand Final night of the West Java Tourism Ambassador 2025 event on April 13, 2025. After going through various rigorous selections and long quarantines, Caithlyn along with dozens of other contestants from various cities and regencies each competed to voice and introduce West Javanese culture to the public.

Caithlyn, representing Depok City, aims to introduce the city’s culture and that of West Java through collaboration with the Lenggang Puspita and Cinta Kebaya Depok communities, as well as involving the Depok City Government and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism. The cultural promotions presented include the Cisalak Mask Dance, Gong Si Bolong Batik, Belimbing Batik, Depok Belimbing Dodol, and Ondel-ondel. The promotion of these diverse cultures will then be showcased and presented in Manila, the Philippines, as the first destination. Manila was chosen due to its geographical proximity, ease of access, and large market potential in the arts and culture sector. Furthermore, Manila also has a large Indonesian diaspora community and is the primary target for this cultural promotion. Another planned destination is Germany.

Caithlyn, who has a background in Tourism Business Management, aspires to contribute to the advancement of Depok and West Java to the global community. “As one of Indonesia’s major cities with a diverse arts and culture scene, I continually strive to promote Depok to make it more appealing to the wider public,” said Caithlyn.

Caithlyn received the title after participating in a series of activities and selections. Each participant was asked to demonstrate various competencies, such as public speaking in English, educational presentations introducing their respective regional cultures, attitude, and individual appearance and personality.

Armed with the theory and practice learned in class, Caithlyn managed to display a brilliant performance on the stage of the 2025 West Java Tourism Ambassador. Caithlyn has also had a number of experiences before, starting from volunteering as a teacher at SDN 1 Beji Depok and SMPN 19 Kota Depok, to winning first place during a presentation related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Tokyo, Japan some time ago, as well as becoming an SDGs Ambassador in Seoul, South Korea, representing the Asia-Pacific region for a better world.

Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, stated that Caithlyn’s achievement represents a significant opportunity for the younger generation to learn about and share information about Indonesia’s diverse cultural heritage. “I congratulate Caithlyn on her achievement. I also hope she will use her award wisely to contribute to the advancement of Indonesian culture and arts, and to bring honor to her alma mater, Universitas Indonesia,” Padang concluded.
