Depok-Fifteen students from the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program had the opportunity to participate in the Mandarin Summer Camp held at Da Yeh University, Taiwan, from July 21 to August 1, 2025. This activity aims to get to know Taiwanese culture better through direct experience, as well as the academic climate in the country.
The students participating in this program come from various study programs, including Office Administration, Creative Business, Finance and Banking Administration, Physiotherapy, and Records and Archives Management. During the camp, the students received intensive Mandarin language instruction and had the opportunity to visit various cultural sites and several renowned universities in Taiwan to broaden their academic knowledge and enrich their cross-cultural experiences. A farewell and briefing ceremony for the students was held on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Vice Director for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Deni Danial Kesa, M.B.A., Ph.D., stated that this activity provides a platform for students to boldly step into the global community. “The Mandarin Summer Camp program provides a golden opportunity for students to learn directly in an environment that uses Mandarin in everyday life. Moreover, they can also understand cultural values and build international networks that are beneficial for the future. We hope this experience can strengthen the global competence of UI Vocational students, in line with UI’s mission to become an excellent and impactful university,” said Deni.
Students who participated in the summer camp were Azlya Aisya Savitri (Creative Business), Felinda Hazna Azizah, Helena Tiara Nadeak, Muhammad Ibrahim, Keisha Rahmadina Putri, Aisyah Zahrani Yusuf (Office Administration), Clarissa Basya Irana, Ashley Hung, Stevie Bu (Finance and Banking Administration), Naurah Ariella Winsome, Alya Kasyifil Syuhada, Intan Nayla Putri Perdana, Ananda Suci Pebrianti, Silgea Busaina Herianto (Physiotherapy), and Qynata Hurryn Ainayya (Records and Archives Management).

The participation of UI Vocational students in this program also received full support from the Taiwanese Ministry of Education in the form of a subsidy of NT$12,000 for participants who passed the interview selection. Muhammad Ibrahim, one of the Office Administration study program students, expressed his positive impressions during this program. Ibrahim said, “I feel very fortunate to be able to study directly in Taiwan. In addition to improving my Mandarin skills, I also got to experience the culture and society firsthand. This experience opened new horizons and motivated me to continue developing myself.”
It is hoped that this program will enable UI Vocational students not only to have better foreign language skills, but also to be able to foster cross-cultural understanding which is essential in the era of globalization.
