Depok-One hundred students from the Public Relations study program of the Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), class of 2024, participated in a student visit to the Investor Daily Summit 2025 event held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, on October 9, 2025. This activity is part of the field practice of the Political Public Relations course taught by Wiendy Hapsari, S.Sos., M.M., with the aim of providing students with direct experience in understanding communication strategies and public relations practices in the context of national politics and economics.

During the event, students had the opportunity to observe firsthand how Investor Daily, a national media outlet, integrates the editorial and marketing communications roles in crafting economic and political messages through a large-scale program. The Investor Daily Summit serves as a strategic communications platform that combines elements of journalism, media branding, and public communications for government and business actors.

This annual event featured several influential speakers in the fields of national economics and politics, including Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, who discussed the performance of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) after one month in office. Additionally, Donny Oskaria, COO of Danantara, shared his insights in a session titled “Indonesia’s Roadmap to the New Economic Order.” He emphasized the importance of collaboration and openness to criticism in efforts to transform national investment management.

Through this student visit, students are expected to broaden their horizons and hone their analytical skills in the dynamics of political and economic communication in the public sphere. This activity also strengthens their understanding of the role of public relations in bridging communication between government, business, the media, and the public. In addition, the students learned how public officials communicate their programs. Equally important, the protocol implemented by Investor Daily, as the media outlet for hosting the summit, was a new experience for them.

The Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Mareta Maulidiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., stated that student visits like this align with the applied learning approach implemented at UI Vocational School. “Through experiential activities like this, students not only learn theory but also see firsthand how public relations concepts are applied in real-world situations. We also want students to develop professional competencies that are adaptive to current issues, especially in the fields of public communication, politics, and the media. This way, they can grow into superior communication practitioners who have an impact on society,” Mareta concluded.
