Depok-Publication of scientific articles is needed by lecturers and teachers, especially high school/vocational high school teachers and the equivalent. Regulation of the Minister of State for Empowerment of State Apparatuses and Bureaucratic Reform Number 16 of 2009 concerning Functional Positions of Teachers and Their Credit Scores states that promotion or rank of teacher is assessed from scientific publications.

Seeing this need, the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program carried out community service activities in the form of training in writing and publication of scientific articles. The community service entitled “Training on Tips for Writing and Publication of Scientific Articles for High School Teachers” was held at the UI Vocational Auditorium, on May 17, 2023. According to the Manager of Research and Community Service of UI Vocational, Ari Nurfikri, S.K.M., M.M.R., this activity was initiated to encourage the birth of various scientific works from teachers.

Those who took part in the community service program stated that each teacher could carry out scientific publications in the journals provided by UI Vocational according to their respective fields. For teachers who want to do scientific publications for the first time, Mona suggests that teachers find out the purpose and scope of what they want to write about. Then, they can follow the template or context of each journal. Next, follow the preparation guide of the journal you want to go to.

The UI Vocational Education Program has several scientific journals from various fields, namely the Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia (JVI, https://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/jvi/), Jurnal Sosial Humaniora Terapan (JSHT, https://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/jsht/), Jurnal Administrasi Bisnis Terapan (JABT, https://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/jabt/), Jurnal Fisioterapi Terapan Indonesia (JFTI, https://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/jfti/), dan Journal of Indonesian Tourism and Policy Studies (JITPS, https://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/jitps/).

Through this community service activity, high school teachers will be richer in information regarding the importance of writing scientific papers and are interested in submitting and publishing them to scientific journals at UI Vocational. Yogi Setiawan, a teacher from SMA Hang Tuah 1 Jakarta, said, “I am very grateful to UI Vocational for organizing this activity.
