Depok-University of Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program opened the Media Production Study Program for the applied undergraduate level (D4) in the upcoming 2021/2020 Odd Semester. This study program focuses on the knowledge, abilities, and skills to produce creative works in the field of communication media production, both for television, radio, and other mass communication channels. Graduates of the Media Production Study Program will get a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Communication Studies (S. Tr. I. Kom.).

Prof. Dr. Ir. Sigit Pranowo Hadiwardoyo, DEA., Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, explained that the curriculum applied was 70% practical and 30% theory. “The lecturers in the study program are experienced practitioners in their fields, so it is hoped that the graduates will be ready to enter the job market,” said Prof. Sigit.

He explained that the presence of this study program answered the needs of the industrial world today. “As we know that at this time we are exposed to a lot of information from various mass media. So, skills and creativity to produce effective works for various platforms are needed,” said Prof. Sigit.

Head of Media Production Study Program, Dr. Rahmi Setiawati, S.Sos., M.Sc. added that with the various competencies provided, graduates of this study program have the potential to work in government and private institutions, for example in state-owned companies, television and radio stations, advertising agencies, public relations agencies, companies startup , with fields entered as a reporter, producer, broadcaster, camera person, program director, account executive, media planner, marketing public relations, copywriter, graphic designer , too entrepreneur in public relations, advertising, and multimedia broadcasting.

“Currently we are in the era of convergence where the boundary between content producers and consumers is very thin and can communicate with each other. This condition demands good adaptability from professionals to present content that is not only interesting but also informative, effective, and on target according to the strengths of each platform. It is in this study program that these skills will be learned,” said Rahmi.

“Students will take applied undergraduate education for eight semesters and are required to complete 144 credits to obtain a Bachelor of Applied Communication Science or S. Tr. I. Kom,” said Rahmi.

In the 2021/2022 Academic Year, the UI Vocational Education Program offers 15 selected study programs for prospective students. Nine Study Programs are for the intermediate expert level, namely Hospital Administration, Accounting, Public Relations, Creative Advertising, Multimedia Broadcasting, Insurance and Actuarial Administration, Financial and Banking Administration,

Office Administration, and Tax Administration. In addition, there are six study programs for the Applied Bachelor level, namely Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Records and Records Management, Creative Business, Media Production, and Tourism Business Management.
