Depok-Family Women’s Association (IWK) Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), held a talk show entitled “Maintaining Bone Health from an Early Age, Investing in Health in the Future” on May 31, 2024 in the UI Vocational Intraco Room. The talk show presented dr. Hanindya Prasodjo, Sp.OT from Primaya Hospital to deliver material about the main function of bones and the risks of related diseases.

Head of the UI Vocational IWK, Dewi Anggraeni Padang, said that this activity was a form of UI Vocational IWK’s concern for the bone health of its members, especially those who are still of productive age and is an investment in their health in the future. Dewi said, “The importance of bone health needs to be maintained from an early age. Moreover, many UI Vocational IWK members work sitting in front of a computer. So, insight into health and the risk of bone disease can be implemented in everyday life.”
dr. Hanindya said that there are ten orthopedic diseases that people often experience, namely frozen shoulder; stiff neck; scoliosis; low back pain; finger trauma; CTS, De Quervain, Trigger Finger; genu osteoarthritis; knee ligament injury; CTEV; and plantar fascitis. Apart from that, the risk of disease that often occurs in people is osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition where bone density decreases so that bones become porous and break easily. “To prevent the risk of this disease occurring, we need to keep our bones healthy. Several ways to keep bones healthy, namely adequate calcium intake, a good lifestyle without smoking and alcohol, regular exercise, sunbathing in the sun, and others,” explained dr. Hanindya.

On this occasion, UI Vocational IWK members also received a health check from Primaya Hospital for bone checks, checking blood sugar, blood pressure and uric acid. Apart from that, there is the introduction of health products from Kalbe and Hwasahan skincare products.
