Depok-The Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program, through its HSE and Infrastructure Maintenance Unit, conducted a simulation of using outdoor fire hydrants on July 16, 2025. The activity took place in the Vocational Park and the outer corridor of the VB Building, as part of efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness, particularly fires.

The simulation was attended by representatives from the UI Vocational academic community, consisting of educators (lecturers), administrative staff, cleaning staff, and security personnel. All participants received training on the procedures for using light fire extinguishers (APAR) and outdoor hydrants, delivered directly by the UI Vocational HSE and Infrastructure and Maintenance team, who are competent in occupational safety.

Vice Director of Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Priyanto, S.S., M.Hum., explained that this activity not only focuses on security aspects, but also represents UI Vocational active contribution to supporting the UI GreenMetric program. “This simulation is a concrete manifestation of UI Vocational commitment to providing adequate occupational health and safety infrastructure. This activity aligns with one of UI GreenMetric indicators, which assesses campus readiness in facing disaster risks,” Priyanto said.

This activity has become an annual event organized by the UI Vocational. Its regular implementation aims to maintain the entire academic community’s preparedness for potential fire risks and to update their knowledge and skills in emergency response.

One of the participants, Ahmad Rizal, an education worker from the Procurement Unit, said he gained new insights from the simulation. “We now understand the correct procedures for using hydrants in the event of a fire. Simulations like this need to be conducted regularly to ensure everyone is prepared for emergencies,” Rizal said.

Through this activity, UI Vocational demonstrates its commitment to building a healthy and safe work culture for all its members. Furthermore, this activity also supports UI’s established sustainability targets.
