Depok-As part of a strategic initiative toward sustainable environmental management, the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program has installed a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) behind the VB Building. This facility treats domestic liquid waste, such as toilet waste and laundry waste containing detergent, before discharging it into the environment.
In addition to its technical functionality, the STP area was also designed with aesthetics in mind. To beautify the environment and maintain visual comfort, the UI Vocational installed
The STP is one of UI Vocational’s efforts to support the green campus program and UI GreenMetric targets by ensuring that the waste produced does not pollute the soil or water sources. The Facilities, Infrastructure, and Facilities Unit manages and maintains the STP routinely every week to ensure optimal processing.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), which emphasizes the importance of safe and efficient wastewater management. Furthermore, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) aims to create a healthy and sustainable campus environment. Through the implementation of environmentally friendly technologies such as STP, UI Vocational continues to implement the concept of a sustainable campus and contribute to achieving the SDG targets in Indonesia.
