Depok-Universitas Indonesia (UI) through the Vocational Education Program, conferred the title of Adjunct Professor to Prof. Dr. Mohamad Sattar Bin Rasul, Vocational and STEM Education expert from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The conferment ceremony was held in conjunction with the 6th International Conference on Vocational Education Applied Science and Technology (ICVEAST) 2023 on Tuesday (25/7/2023) at the Alila Hotel Solo, Surakarta.
Adjunct Professor is a title for UI international colleagues who have made significant academic contributions in various academic and non-academic collaborations. For UI Vocational, this is the first time that the title of Adjunct Professor has been awarded. So far, he has contributed to the development of international research by becoming a lecturer research collaborator at UI Vocational.
Prof. Sattar has a good research track record with an H-index Scopus 11 with 57 articles. Currently, three publication titles have been published in Scopus indexed journals which are the result of a research collaboration between Prof. Sattar with UI Vocational lecturers. Some of these journals are entitled Blockchain Technology to Enhance Integrated Blue Economy: A Case Study in Strengthening Sustainable Tourism on Smart Islands; Institutional Dynamics of Halal Tourism Development in Indonesia and Malaysia; and Analyzing Teaching Strategy, Reflection and Negotiating Indicators Tooards Learning for Sustainable Development (LSD) of Green Skills.

UI Vocational will continue to collaborate with Prof. Sattar to get research grants and community service on an international scale in the future. Currently, Prof. Sattar also collaborated as a task force mentor for acceleration of international social humanities publications for two UI Vocational lecturers, namely Dr. Rahmi Setiawati, S.Sos., M.Si. with research entitled Society 5.0 Model: Digital Literacy Design The Development of Economic, Social and Environmental Sustainability Tourism in Lake Toba District, North Sumatra, Indonesia and Dr. Diaz Pranita, MM., with a research entitled Analysis Of Disaster Mitigation In The Development Of Marine Site, Southern Lampung Tourism Destination. The scientific article will be published in International Journals with the 2nd quartile category (Q2) in the Scimago Journal Ranking (SJR). Liability as Adjunct Professor is expected to be able to improve the quality of education and research at UI Vocational.
Prof. Sattar research focuses on education, especially regarding the development of education, curriculum, and vocational training or Technical and Vocational Education And Training (TVET) as well as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). From 2018 to 2021, he got the Most Published in Indexed Journal (WOS/SCOPUS/ERA) award. Until now, Prof. Sattar has published 193 articles in indexed journals and 14 academic books.
The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, expressed his appreciation for the contribution made by Prof. Sattar to UI Vocational. “We are certainly proud of the title of the first Adjunct Professor at UI Vocational. Thanks to Prof. Sattar for his contribution so far, we also hope that there will be more collaborations that can be carried out with UI Vocational which will benefit both parties,” said Padang.
It is hoped that the awarding of the title of Adjunct Professor will further improve the quality of education and research and strengthen collaboration with world-class educational and research institutions, especially at UI Vocational.
