Depok-Students of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) who are members of the Spill the Tree Team from the Public Relations study program, Vocational Education Program, won first place in the “Bandung Public Relations Convergence: Strategy Marketing Communication National Competition”, which took place at the Postgraduate Building, Telkom University, on February 22, 2025. They are Zachra Putrinardhany, Tibr Aisyah, and Nadia Almira.

The Spill the Tree team won the championship thanks to an educational campaign titled #BatasiGGL in the NutriRoad program: One Step Closer to a Healthier Life. This educational campaign aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of excessive sugar, salt, and fat consumption. Through a data-based communication approach, they initiated the NutriRoad program which includes an education roadshow and a local media roadshow.

Aqsath Rasyid Naradhipa, CEO of NoLimit, who was a judge for the competition, said that one of the advantages of this campaign is the educational mascots Gugu, Lala, and Rara (Gulara) which are considered unique and easy for the public to remember. “The Spill the Tree team has a good understanding of the strategy of using data that is much more targeted. This is a great first step for friends to create great communication,” said Aqsath.

#BatasiGGL education was provided directly to students in 30 schools spread across 10 provinces, namely Central Java, East Java, West Java, Papua, North Sumatra, West Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, Lampung, Riau, and South Sulawesi. In addition to direct socialization, this campaign also involved local media to expand the reach of education. With a local media roadshow approach, the Spill the Tree Team held a media coverage competition to increase coverage of the #BatasiGGL campaign. This step was considered effective in building relationships with the media and strengthening the campaign’s exposure nationally.

“We want the public to be more aware of the importance of a healthy diet. Through a public relations approach based on the Paid, Earned, Shared, Owned (PESO) framework and the SMART Objective method, education for school-age children is carried out to help create a sustainable healthy diet. These preventive efforts must be encouraged so that Indonesian children avoid foods that are high in salt, sugar, and fat,” said Tibr.

NutriRoad is expected to be a real step towards a healthier life. Director of UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, appreciated the Spill the Tree Team’s achievement in successfully implementing the UI Vocational curriculum for the needs of industry and society. He said, “Through attractive packaging, the Spill the Tree Team brings more effective nutrition education and has a positive impact on society. Hopefully this success will encourage other students to work and make the name of Universitas Indonesia proud.”
