Depok-The Universitas Indonesia (UI) provided training on public relations, particularly on strategic content development, for a number of Indonesian Army (TNI AD) implementing elements in 38 provinces from November 5-16 at the UI Convention Center.
Through the UI Vocational Institute, the “Public Relations Training for Indonesian Army Officers: Photography, Videography, and Drones for Strategic Content Development” provides basic photography and videography materials, as well as additional training materials related to the use of drones that are highly relevant to today’s digital information world.
The Head of the UI Vocational Institute, Dr. Diaz Pranita, M.M., said the training aimed to improve the capabilities of the Indonesian Army’s human resources (HR) in the field of communication, particularly in terms of creating strategic visual content to support the positive image of the Indonesian Army in the eyes of the public.

“Through this training, we hope that participants will not only gain technical skills in photography, videography, and drone use, but also a deeper understanding of the role of visual content in conveying effective messages to the wider public,” said Diaz.
The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, revealed that the collaboration between UI and the Indonesian Army has been established since 2020 and this activity is a follow-up to the joint commitment of both parties to improve the public relations capacity of the Indonesian Army.

“We are very grateful that the Indonesian Army continues to trust us to conduct this training, which will certainly have a positive impact on the community, especially in terms of delivering more effective and credible information,” Padang said.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Officer IV/Education Development of the Indonesian Army, Colonel Inf. Nur Rohman Zein, S.E., M.M., delivered important directions and messages to the soldiers participating in the training.

“Knowledge and skills can only be transferred if there is a frequency match between the instructor and participants. The ability to operate a drone is not only useful for documenting activities and publications; it also has strategic relevance in supporting Indonesian Army tasks in the field, such as regional monitoring, visual data collection, and fast and accurate public communication. Through this understanding, participants are expected to optimize drone technology as part of improving the public relations capacity and operational readiness of the Indonesian Army” explained Nur Rohman Zein.
On the first day of training, November 5, the participants received communication material from Major General TNI (Ret.) Dr. Agung Risdhianto, M.D.A. as well as practitioners and lecturers from UI Vocational in the field of public relations.
In addition to theory, participants also participated in practical training involving communications practitioners and professionals in photography, journalism, and digital videography, including drone use and video editing. The training provided skills that could be immediately applied in daily tasks while strengthening the Indonesian Army’s positive image in the digital world.
Through this training, the UI Vocational Institute and the Indonesian Army hope to produce more Indonesian Army personnel who are skilled in producing quality visual content and developing more modern and effective public communication skills.
Therefore, such training is expected to not only provide benefits for the Indonesian Army in developing human resources, but also to maintain and strengthen relations between the Indonesian Army and the community through content that can increase public understanding of the duties and roles of the Indonesian Army in maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
