Depok-To coincide with the month of Ramadhan 1445 Hijriah, the Family Women’s Association (IWK), Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), and the Vocational Wellness Center are holding community service activities in the form of providing compensation and health checks for orphans and the poor at Welfare Institutions Darul Ilmi Children’s Social, Beji, Depok. The community service activities carried out on April 1, 2024 were carried out by the UI Vocational IWK management.

Chair of the UI Vocational IWK, Dewi Anggraini, said that this community service activity was a routine activity carried out in order to take advantage of the Ramadhan momentum. Dewi said, “We want to share happiness and build friendship to make orphans and poor people smile and be happy. Apart from that, we also provide free basic health checks for local residents so that they are aware of the importance of personal health.”

On this occasion, eleven students and alumni of the Physiotherapy study program were involved, who provided counseling and provided basic health check services. The basic health checks provided include measurements of body weight, muscle mass, cell age, posture, body balance, and others. “Student participation in this community service activity is a form of collaboration between UI Vocational academics. We hope that this collaboration can continue and have a positive impact on the surrounding community,” added Dewi.

Putra Adytio Giriyoga, A.Md.Ft., one of the alumni of the Physiotherapy study program, also provided counseling to participants regarding how to maintain health by carrying out routine activities and maintaining good nutritional intake. According to him, routine activities that children can do are being active, always maintaining personal hygiene, and having a regular sleep time. “Another important thing is maintaining children’s nutritional intake. Nutritional intake can be provided from simple dishes such as vegetables, fruit, fish, chicken, eggs, and others. Avoid foods or drinks that contain excess sugar, fat and calories,” said Adytio.

The Chairman of the Darul Ilmi Children’s Social Welfare Institution, represented by Silvi Wahyuni, S.Sos., expressed her thanks to UI Vocational for providing a little of their sustenance to orphans and poor people at the Darul Ilmi Children’s Social Welfare Institution. Silvi said, “We really appreciate the activities held by UI Vocational IWK. A total of thirty orphans and poor people have been given compensation and donations in the form of basic necessities and school equipment.”
