Sabrina said that participating in the Abang None Jakarta contest has been her dream since 2019. In fact, the dream was on her bucket list and one of her hopes for her future e-mail assignment when attending the UI Campus Life Orientation (OKK) at the beginning of her journey as a new student. “The Abang None Jakarta event is more than just a dream that finally came true. For me, Abang None Jakarta is part of my personal growth journey and a way for young people to be useful for their surroundings, especially for their city,” said Sabrina.
Long before joining the contest, Sabrina had joined the Dreamity Indonesia art community, a community built by fellow art lovers and UI students from various backgrounds. Sabrina will return to serve the community and teach art to children who are interested in art. She believes that Abang None Jakarta is one of the most explorative places to develop positive programs. Sabrina is also quite interested and fell in love with Teater Abang None.
During the competition, Sabrina brought up the idea of re-branding bir pletok, a Betawi specialty drink made from a mixture of spices. Sabrina said, “As a Creative Advertising student, I can apply the knowledge I have to this idea. Based on the Graphic Design course I took in the second semester, I came up with the idea of re-branding bir pletok and made it into a prototype that was presented during the judging process.”

The packaging of the pletok beer made by Sabrina has its own meaning and significance. The color selection is based on a “menor” color palette with each vibrant color representing Jakarta and its contents. The handle is shaped like a balang tooth, as part of the Betawi cultural icon. There are illustrations of dendrobium orchids and cupang serit, which are icons of West Jakarta. And, don’t forget the coconut flower. The packaging is also equipped with a handle tag that has a barcode that can be scanned to make it easier for consumers later to find out information about pletok beer and its benefits.
Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, Director of UI Vocational Education Program, appreciated Sabrina’s achievements, especially the prototype idea she developed during the Abang None West Jakarta 2024 judging. According to him, Sabrina’s idea in re-branding a product is one of the concrete steps in applying the knowledge she received in class to the community. “Sabrina’s innovation is one way for the younger generation to introduce culture to others. Through events like this, young people will get to know more about diverse cultures, especially Betawi. Once again, I congratulate Sabrina on her achievements,” said Padang.

Finally, Sabrina said that being part of Abang None Jakarta is not just a competition and a title, but also a place to grow, learn, and contribute to the sustainability of Jakarta. “This is one form of my devotion to the surrounding area and the city where I was born. I really hope that I can develop my potential and contribute to many sectors, both domestically and abroad,” concluded Sabrina.
