Depok-To strengthen social awareness and foster a spirit of compassion, the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program, through the Universitas Indonesia Public Relations Vocational Student Association (HM VokHum UI), held a social activity titled PR Crayon with the theme “Rainbow of Love.” The event took place on July 23, 2025 at the Tunas Bangsa Toddler Orphanage in Cipayung, East Jakarta.

This activity was not just a casual social visit, but a concrete manifestation of the students’ concern for the future of children in their golden years of development. The Tunas Bangsa Toddler Orphanage is a strategic location because it accommodates children aged 3-7, an age group in a critical period of emotional, cognitive, and social development. The presence of the UI Vocational students is expected to provide positive stimulus and spread joy and motivation to the children at the orphanage.

Forty-three children from the orphanage participated in a series of interactive and educational activities designed with compassion and to build self-confidence. The children watched an educational animation, then participated in a group game called “Rainbow Touch” with colorful balls, and danced and played with the students.

The highlight of the activity was the “Rainbow Dream Missions” game, where children creatively expressed their dreams through writing and drawing. This activity aimed to foster a spirit of dreaming, encourage self-exploration, and strengthen their belief in their ability to achieve a bright future.

The PR Crayon activity was also accompanied by a fundraising campaign during the period of June 25-July 20, 2025. Donations were handed over in the form of cash to the orphanage to support the children’s operational and daily needs, as well as providing snacks to the children who attended the event. A representative from the Tunas Bangsa Toddler Orphanage, Turmini, also accompanied the entire series of activities and expressed her appreciation. “We are very grateful for the presence of the students from the UI Vocational. The children were very happy and enthusiastic. Thank you for the time, attention, and assistance given. This activity was a meaningful moment for them,” she said.

This time, PR Crayon activity was deliberately held outside the UI campus as a commitment to expanding its social impact. The location of East Jakarta was chosen to reach children in diverse areas and ensure that happiness and affection are shared equally by all children, wherever they are.

“Seeing the children’s enthusiasm from start to finish was incredibly encouraging for us as students and event organizers. This proves that our primary goal of sharing love and bringing joy has been achieved,” said Evan Abdul Azizi Surapati, Chair of HM VokHum UI.

HM VokHum UI is committed to continuing to develop the PR Crayon program as an annual routine activity that not only brings momentary joy, but also provides long-term meaning for the growth and development of children and students’ social awareness. The Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Mareta Mauldiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., also expressed her appreciation for this positive initiative. “The PR Crayon activity is a real implementation of public relations learning that not only focuses on communication skills, but also forms empathy, collaboration skills, and social sensitivity in students. This activity is a real manifestation that a public relations officer must be present and relevant in the community, bringing meaningful messages and impacts,” Mareta concluded.
