Depok-Students of the Financial Administration and Banking study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), who are members of the Financial Administration and Banking Student Association (HIMAKUPA), held a social activity on Batu Ampar 1 Street, East Jakarta. The action of building the environment by cleaning up trash and planting cayenne pepper with the community was held on June 8-9, 2024. The community service activity entitled Ku-Angan, an abbreviation of HIMAKUPA Aksi Membangun Lingkungan, was attended by 45 students of the Financial Administration and Banking study program.
The first day of activities began with socialization on how to care for and maintain the environment by planting cayenne pepper to local residents. Furthermore, students also invited residents to practice how to plant cayenne pepper. On that occasion, students had provided planting media and cayenne pepper seeds. In addition to planting, they also provided education on the benefits of planting cayenne pepper, how to care for plants, and how to utilize the harvest economically. The activity aims to increase public awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability.

Director of UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, highlighted the positive activities carried out by the Financial Administration and Banking students. According to him, these sustainable activities can be carried out by every student to provide benefits to the community. Padang said, “I support every work program carried out by students to continue to do positive things, especially those that have a real impact on the community. In addition to social activities, this program can also be developed into other programs, such as financial literacy, savings movements, and so on.”
The activity was continued on the second day which coincided with World Environment Day. Students and the community held a community service in the area around Batu Ampar 1 Street. Students together with residents cleaned up along the road RT 06 RW 02. The community service aims to create a clean and healthy environment, as well as build a sense of togetherness between students and the local community.

The Ku-Angan activity received a positive response from the surrounding community. Mulyati, a resident of Batu Ampar 1 Street, said, “This activity provides direct benefits in the form of a greener and cleaner environment. In addition, we were also given education on how to utilize chili plants as one of the products with economic value.”
Head of the Financial Administration and Banking Study Program, Vindaniar Yuristamanda Putri, S.I.A., M.M., said that every activity carried out by the Financial Administration and Banking study program is expected to always bring positive results, both for UI and the environment. “This activity can continue and inspire other students to be active in community service activities. So, students not only excel in academics, but also have real contributions to the progress and welfare of society,” concluded Vinda.
