Depok-The Tourism Business Management study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), has once again demonstrated its commitment to creating caring and impactful graduates through the Jelajah Ceria X Paris Peduli activity. The community service activity (pengmas) which took place on June 14-15, 2025, collaborated with children from the Panti Yatim Indonesia (PYI) in a series of educational and inspiring activities, ranging from environmental-based art workshops to meaningful historical tours.

On the first day, the children were invited to join an ecoprint workshop, which is a technique for printing natural motifs from leaves and flowers onto fabric. This creative activity was enthusiastically welcomed by the children. They created works with fabric bags while learning to love nature. Head of the Tourism Business Management Study Program, Anisatul Auliya, S.ST.Par., M.Par., said that ecoprint is not just an ordinary art activity. “Ecoprint is a form of environmental education that is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially point 12 on responsible consumption and production. Through ecoprint, children learn that beauty can be born from nature without destroying it. In addition, students also learn how to convey the value of sustainability inclusively to the community,” said Auliya.

After the workshop session, the activity was closed with the presentation of gifts to PYI representatives. The story continued the next day in the form of an educational tour to Ragunan Zoo and the National Monument (Monas). Children were introduced to various types of animals through interactive games guided by students, then invited to explore the history of the nation at Monas and the National Museum. Some of them said that this was their first visit to these iconic places.

This activity also received a warm welcome. Ade Aripin, one of the PYI administrators, felt that the togetherness that was built brought new enthusiasm to the children. “The children were very happy. Some were visiting Ragunan and Monas for the first time, which made them very impressed. More than that, they felt cared for, invited to laugh, and given space to dream,” said Ade.

Furthermore, Auliya said, “This educational tourism activity is a real practice space for students to apply the knowledge gained during lectures such as planning a tour, interpreting destinations, and managing visitor experiences. They also learn how to organize the flow of activities, build communication with participants, and educate with a fun approach.”

From leaves transformed into works of art, to small steps among the capital’s historical icons, Jelajah Ceria X Paris Peduli is not just a community service activity. This activity is a bridge between the academic world and society. Through Jelajah Ceria X Paris Peduli, the Tourism Business Management study program not only spreads goodness, but also combines community service activities, learning, and sustainability values into one impactful activity.
