Depok-In order to foster environmental awareness from an early age, the community service team of the University of Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program in collaboration with the Pondok Labu Creative Extension Center, Jakarta, held an activity titled “Economically Valuable Environmental Conservation: Eggshell Waste” some time ago. This activity was attended by elementary and middle school-aged children who enthusiastically participated in a workshop session recycling household waste into works of art that have a market value. The participants were invited to learn about the potential of often thrown away eggshell waste as the main material for creating various decorations and creative handicrafts.

The material was delivered by UI Vocational lecturers, Deni Danial Kesa, M.B.A., Ph.D. and Ari Nurfikri, S.K.M., M.M.R. Both emphasized the importance of changing the perspective on household waste so that it is not considered merely trash, but rather a resource that can be recycled into valuable products. Through an educational approach and hands-on practice, participants learned that environmental awareness is realized through simple steps that have a big impact.

This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and Goal 13 (Climate Action). Through this initiative, children not only understand the importance of environmental conservation but also learn to develop creativity and the values of a circular economy, creating a caring, innovative, and sustainable development-oriented young generation.
