Depok-Students of the Public Relations study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), conducted a company visit to PT. Tiki Jalur Nugraha Ekakurir or better known as JNE on October 10, 2024. Themed “Main Objectives of CSR or ESG”, the industrial visit activity aims to understand more about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implemented by JNE.
Public Relations students, accompanied by Wida Septarina Wijayanti, S.S., M.Si., a lecturer in charge of Social Marketing, studied a lot about CSR and ESG concepts so that they understand the importance of this knowledge in business activities. M. Feriadi Soeprapto, President Director of PT JNE, and Kurnia Nugraha, Head of Media Communication of PT JNE, shared their experiences and knowledge about implementing CSR and ESG in the company. “According to a 2020 Sprout Social study, 39% of consumers believe that brands should contribute to social goals, and 37% believe that brands should encourage their followers to do the same. This shows that today’s consumers not only consider the quality of products or services, but also the values and goals carried by the brand.”

Kurnia added, “JNE has three main objectives in implementing CSR and ESG, namely 1) improving the welfare and quality of life of employees, and developing themselves through scholarships and career development programs; 2) improving the welfare and quality of life of the community, and increasing access to education, health, and infrastructure; and 3) helping to improve environmental quality, and supporting sustainability by implementing programs and using sustainable resources.”
In addition, UI Vocational students also have the opportunity to visit existing facilities, including the JNE museum which contains the history of the company’s founding to the awards received and others, as well as see firsthand the integrated delivery process, starting from packing services, transportation, unpacking, to placing goods according to customer requests. Students can see firsthand how PT JNE implements CSR and ESG in its operational activities.
Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Mareta Maulidiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., said that the study visit activity is one of the forums for students to learn directly in the industry. Through this opportunity, they will gain real experience from practitioners and industry directly in the field. “I hope that students get maximum provisions from the industry and implement them, either during internships or after graduating from UI Vocational,” Mareta concluded.
