Depok-The community service team of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program chaired by Dr. Nia Murniati, S.K.M., M.K.M., a lecturer in the Hospital Administration study program, held an activity at the Indonesian Terminal Mosque School (Master), Depok on August 20, 2024. A total of forty students attended to listen to the presentation related to “Chatbot Assistant: A Free Means of Sharing, Building Solidarity among Students at the Indonesian Master School”. The activity aims to introduce the innovation of the Hospital Administration study program lecturer, namely the Interaction Hospital Administration (ARSI), a means of sharing for street children who are taking package C education at the Indonesian Master School.
The phenomenon of People with Social Welfare Problems (PMKS) is still a problem in Indonesia, including the city of Depok. PMKS are a vulnerable group, both socially and economically. Based on data collection on PMKS by the Depok City Social Service, there were 344,952 PMKS in the city in 2021. Various efforts have been made by the government and the community to reduce the number of PMKS. One of them is the Master School, a free school for street children, underprivileged people, scavengers, and buskers located in the terminal area.
The head of the community service, Dr. Nia Murniati, S.K.M., M.K.M., said that the hard life lived by PMKS children can cause stress. Their lack of readiness in dealing with stressors can cause stress in Master School students. According to her, one of the emotional regulation strategies to alleviate problems personally is through sharing. Nia said, “We should not carelessly share our problems before getting to know the person we are sharing with. Their lack of ability to utilize the services of a psychologist makes them share their problems on social media. This does not necessarily solve the problem, and can even add to the problem if the problem being shared is a disgrace.”
The community service activity began with education and practice using the ARSI Chatbot by a community service team consisting of Ari Nurfikri, S.K.M., M.M.R.; Supriadi, S.K.M., M.A.R.S.; and Elsa Roselina, S.Kep., M.K.M. Master School students were introduced to the ARSI Chatbot which they can use as a means of sharing their feelings. The ARSI Chatbot platform is an autoreply tool created by utilizing the WhatsApp application. Master School students can access and contact the WhatsApp contact and communicate safely because there is a choice of autoreply answers that will accommodate their feelings.
“The community service activity is expected to facilitate healthy sharing for PMKS students at Master School. The existence of this sharing media can also reduce their stress levels. So, they can be more free in telling their complaints about their lives,” concluded Nia.
