Depok-The Universitas Indonesia Public Relations Vocational Student Association (HM VokHum UI) once again demonstrated its social awareness through its annual PRecious 2025 event, held at the Rumah Oma Muslim Nursing Home on November 29, 2025. Themed “PRecious Moments of Happiness Created from Simple Interactions,” the event aimed to foster empathy and social sensitivity while also honing students’ interpersonal communication skills through direct interaction with the elderly.
Unlike previous years, this year’s PRecious program emphasized simplicity through dialogue between students and seniors, allowing them to share stories, life experiences, and build emotional bonds. The students also invited residents to make beaded bracelets while enjoying snacks together.
The activity then continued with a reflection session, “Writing Letters to the Past.” Students shared their thoughts and impressions after listening to the stories and life journeys of the orphanage residents. One of Santoso’s letters addressed the importance of instilling trust in others, a message conveyed by his late mother during her lifetime.

This session served as a contemplative moment that strengthened the values of empathy and caring for each other. Neneng, one of the shelter residents, expressed her gratitude for the students’ presence. “I’m so happy to have the students from UI Vocational here. Thank you for visiting and entertaining us. We look forward to your next visit,” she said.
PRecious 2025 Project Officer, Faizah Adianti Masri, also a student in the UI Vocational Public Relations program, emphasized the personal significance of this activity. Faizah said, “We designed PRecious 2025 as a small expression of the care we want to show. Through simplicity, we hope this activity can provide a warm space for grandmas and grandpas to share stories, laugh, and enjoy being together.”
At the end of the event, HM VokHum UI presented flowers and individual donations to all the elderly. They also provided additional donations to the orphanage management, including operational equipment in the form of hand gloves and materials totaling Rp2,250,000.

The Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Mareta Maulidiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., also expressed her appreciation for the event and stated that it also implemented classroom learning. Mareta stated, “This event plays a crucial role in the students’ learning process. Practicing interactions with vulnerable communities, such as the elderly, helps students hone their empathetic communication skills and build social sensitivity, which is crucial in the public relations profession.”
This activity also aligns with UI Vocational commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Thus, students learn that public relations is not only about communication strategies, but also about humanity and sustainability. Through this activity, HM Vocational School UI hopes that PRecious 2025 can become a forum for character building for students to have empathy, humanistic communication skills, and awareness of social sustainability in the community.
