Depok-Florida Inna Lichron N., a student in the Financial and Banking Administration study program in the Vocational Education Program at the Universitas Indonesia (UI), won third place in the National Public Speaking Competition held by the Vocational Faculty of the Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI). The competition, held at Graha William Soeryadjaya in East Jakarta, attracted more than fifty participants from various universities across Indonesia.
At the competition, Florinda delivered a speech titled “The Role of Students in Disseminating Literacy on People’s Banks (BPR) and Deposit Insurance Corporations (LPS) to Strengthen the Regional Financial Ecosystem.” In her speech, Florinda emphasized the role of students as agents of change who can bridge the public’s understanding of local financial institutions such as BPR and LPS in maintaining regional economic stability.
“Strong financial literacy at the grassroots level is a crucial foundation for inclusive economic growth,” Florinda said in her speech. She also touched on the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the points on reducing inequality and strengthening sustainable economic development.

Interestingly, Florinda prepared all the speech materials and video for the competition in a relatively short time. The entire process, from script writing and intonation practice to video recording, was done independently and supervised by two lecturers from the Financial and Banking Administration study program, Vindaniar Yuristamanda Putri, S.I.A., M.M. and Gayatri Rejeki, M.M.
Florinda said, “The material I learned in class really helped me prepare for this speech. In particular, the Business Ethics and Communication course, which honed my speaking and argumentation skills; Banking and Financial Transactions and Risk Management, which enriched my understanding of the functions of financial institutions; and Credit/Financing Administration, which broadened my perspective on the role of rural banks (BPR) in the local economy. Through these courses, I learned that good communication skills must be supported by a strong understanding of the substance. Furthermore, I am also grateful to the lecturers who provided support and various input throughout the preparation process until the end of the competition.”
The Head of the Financial and Banking Administration Study Program, Vindaniar Yuristamanda Putri, S.I.A., M.M., expressed her appreciation for the achievements of her students. “Florinda’s work demonstrates the students’ critical thinking skills in linking financial literacy to strengthening the regional economy. This success also proves that UI Vocational students are not only technically superior, but also possess strong social awareness and public communication skills,” said Vindaniar.
This achievement further strengthens UI Vocational efforts in producing superior, adaptive, and impactful students, particularly in the communication and leadership skills needed by today’s industrial world.
