Depok-The Master of Applied Creative Industries study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), hosted the signing of the Deed of Establishment and Working Meeting of the Creative Economy Higher Education Consortium (KPT Ekraf). This event marked a significant step in strengthening collaboration between universities to develop a globally competitive Indonesian creative economy ecosystem.
The activity, which took place at the UI Vocational Creative Industry Applied Masters, was attended by representatives from various consortium member universities, namely the Indonesian Institusi Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, Intitut Teknologi Bandung, LaSalle College Jakarta, Telkom University, Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Institut Kesenian Jakarta, President University, and the Universitas Indonesia.
The Creative Economy Education Consortium (KPT Ekraf) was established as a collaborative platform between universities to strengthen synergy between education, research, and the national creative industry. In her opening statement, Dr. Dewi Kartika Sari, S.E., Ak., M.S.Ak., CA., as Chairperson of the KPT Ekraf Management, explained that the consortium was born from a joint initiative since early 2025 and now officially has a deed of establishment registered with the Ministry of Law under the name of the Indonesian Creative Economy Education Management. Ika said, “This consortium provides a space for universities to share their strengths, strengthen research networks, and expand the impact of innovation and creative work produced by academics. We hope that universities can become the driving force of the national creative economy.”

This activity also received support from the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy, which views the creation of this consortium as a strategic step in building a collaborative foundation between academia and the national creative industry. The Ministry is encouraging KPT Ekraf to become a driving partner in strengthening creative human resources, developing applied research, and increasing the competitiveness of Indonesia’s creative economy subsector globally.
The inaugural working meeting of the KPT Ekraf also discussed various strategic activity plans until 2026, starting from the Creative Consortium Summit 2026, Creative Challenge, Creative Teaching Forum, and Creative Knowledge & Data Hub. These activities will be a forum for students, lecturers, and industry players to innovate and collaborate across sub-sectors, including crafts, fashion, digital games, applications, and film and animation.

Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, expressed his appreciation for the establishment of this consortium as a concrete manifestation of university synergy in the creative economy. “The establishment of KPT Ekraf is a concrete step towards strengthening the role of higher education in building the competitiveness of the national creative economy. This collaboration is expected to not only produce academic innovation but also have a real impact on society and the Indonesian creative industry,” said Padang.
Through this consortium, the members are committed to developing a sustainable collaborative model that integrates education, research, community service, and the downstreaming of creative works. This way, KPT Ekraf can become a driving force in Indonesia’s transformation toward becoming a leading creative economy center in Southeast Asia by 2032.
