This event is part of the UI Accounting Vocational Guidance Period (MBVA) series, attended by new students as a gateway to the professional world of accounting.
The inaugural lecture, attended by Accounting students from the class of 2025, featured speakers from practitioners and professional organizations, including Deny Poerhadiyanto, SE., M.Sc., Ak., CA., CPAA (Member of the Board of Directors of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants), and Muhammad Afif Alfarizi, SE, B.Com., MBA (Business Relationship Manager of ACCA Indonesia). Deny emphasized that the accounting profession has evolved from simply recording numbers to becoming a strategic business partner. “Accounting is now more than just about debits and credits; it encompasses data analysis, sustainability, and technology. Future accountants must be able to think analytically, adapt to change, and maintain integrity in every professional step,” Deny said.
Meanwhile, Afif introduced the concept of Seven Professional Quotients from ACCA that professional accountants must have, namely Experience Quotient (XQ), Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Creative Quotient (CQ), Vision Quotient (VQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), Digital Quotient (DQ), and Technical & Ethical Quotient (TEQ). Afif added, “A modern accountant is not enough to just master the technical, but must also have analytical skills, creativity, leadership, and digital understanding. This combination is what will make Indonesian accountants able to compete at the global level.”
At the talk show session held at the UI Vocational Auditorium, two alumni of the UI Vocational Accounting study program who are now working as partners of Public Accounting Firms (KAP) were present, namely Sagita Fajarahayu, A.Md.Ak., S.E., Ak., M.Sc., CA., CPA. (Partner of KAP Hertanto, Grace, Karunawan) and Syaipul Malik Ibrahim, A.Md.Ak., S.E., Ak., M.Ak., CFP., CPA. (Partner of KAP Drs. Muhamad Zen & Rekan).
Sagita shared that internships during her Associate’s Degree studies were crucial for adapting to the working world. “The main challenge when starting out is connecting theory with practical work. The key is being proactive and asking questions,” Sagita said.

Syaipul added that while he initially felt limited as a Associate’s Degree graduate, the work experience gained early on proved to be a competitive advantage. “Don’t be discouraged; it was that experience that accelerated my career path, leading me to be trusted as a Partner at a Public Accounting Firm,” he said. Both alumni also emphasized the importance of professional certifications such as CPA, CA, and ACCA as a golden ticket to a career in accounting.
The Head of the Accounting Study Program, Andhita Yukihana Rahmayanti, SE.Ak., M.Sc., CA., CPA., CBV., Cert.DA., expressed her hope that this activity would inspire new students. Yuki said, “Through this inaugural lecture, we want to show that the world of accounting is full of global opportunities. By equipping them with competencies, certifications, and a spirit of continuous learning, UI Vocational students will be able to become superior professional accountants and impact the nation.”
One of the new students from the class of 2025, Erra Fazira, expressed her interest in accounting after attending the inaugural lecture. “I understand better that accounting isn’t just about numbers, but also about leadership, technology, and business strategy. Hearing firsthand the experiences of practitioners and alumni makes me even more enthusiastic about pursuing my education at UI Vocational,” she said.
This activity not only opens the lectures but also motivates new students to look to the future with optimism. The presence of practitioners, professional organizations, and successful alumni will strengthen students’ understanding that accounting is a dynamic, strategic, and relevant profession.
