Depok-The Universitas Indonesia Public Relations Vocational Student Association (HM VokHum UI) is once again holding Pro E-Sports 2025, a national-level esports tournament held online throughout July-August 2025. This competition provides a positive platform for young people to channel their interests and talents in the world of esports. Carrying the theme “Mythic Thrones”, the competition presents a fresh and engaging nuance of royal mythology. PRo E-Sports 2025 also opens up space for anyone to compete healthily and collaboratively regardless of age or educational background. A total of 21 teams from various parts of Indonesia are taking part in this competition, including teams representing organizations and independent communities.

“My hope for this year’s Pro E-Sports is that it can be a positive platform, not only as a place to channel interests and talents in the field of esports, but also as a space for learning, character development, and collaboration between participants,” said Renanda Raffi, Head of the Sports Department of HM VokHum UI.

Furthermore, Raffi emphasized the importance of strategic and development soft skill aspects in this competition. “With PRo E-Sports, we hope the younger generation can improve their strategic thinking, sportsmanship, communication, and teamwork skills, which are essential for their personal and professional development,” Raffi added.

Through PRo E-Sports 2025, HM VokHum UI aims to respond to the growing interest of the younger generation in esports, while contributing to the formation of a healthy and progressive competitive community. Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the number of game players in 2021 reached 121.7 million people and increased to 174.1 million people in 2022, and is estimated to reach 192.1 million people in 2025 across various platforms. Seeing this high level of interest, HM VokHum UI has been striving to hold esports tournaments since previous years, especially for the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Despite facing challenges during the registration period due to inadequate publicity, the students successfully developed a new marketing communications strategy—which also served as a tangible learning experience from the Integrated Marketing Communications course—ultimately securing 21 participants. The tournament also saw “Marpeng Warrior” win first place, followed by “Ratakan UI” as runner-up, and “Star Eradication (SEC)” as third place.

As a token of appreciation for the participants’ participation and dedication, PRo E-Sports 2025 is offering a total prize pool of IDR 2,000,000. Beyond just prizes, this tournament has a broader impact on empowering the younger generation and creating productive spaces in the competitive digital world.

The Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Mareta Maulidiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., stated that events like this provide an opportunity for students to apply course material to real-world situations. “PRo E-Sports 2025 is clear evidence that esports can be a vehicle for character development and creativity for young people. Furthermore, for students, their involvement in this event is an important part of their experiential learning in class across various courses,” Mareta said.

Through this year’s success, PRo E-Sports has further strengthened its position as a positive and impactful competition platform, while expanding the reach of the esports community in Indonesia.
