Depok-The Public Relations study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), held a guest lecturer lecture entitled “Unlocking Business Growth with Smart Visual” on May 14, 2024 in the Intraco Room, UI Vocational. The guest lecturer presented Arsy Rahmat Syahbani, Associate PMO Business Development, and Ayu Refti Nahdiati, Account Manager, from one of the leading e-commerce in Indonesia. The presence of these two industry practitioners is part of enriching the knowledge and skills of Public Relations students who are currently accompanying various MSMEs in the 2024 Vokasi Humas Festival (VokHumFest) community service program.

“In helping MSMEs, we share with students that visual techniques must also be accompanied by digital business strategies so that the goal of strengthening MSMEs to become prosperous can be realized. We are introducing the Value Proposition Canvas concept, which will help them dissect how a product and service can make customers feel benefited and resolve negative experiences experienced by customers,” said Arsy.

Value Proposition Canvas is a powerful way to encourage sales and increase customer loyalty. One way to do this is by creating a short message explaining why customers should buy or use a company’s product or service.

On this occasion, Arsy also shared a number of case studies regarding digital marketing visualization through social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, as well as product visualization in e-commerce. According to him, attractive visual content, such as product photos, video content, and shop banners, will have an impact on increasing organic traffic and sales.

Apart from that, Ayu said that student assistance for MSMEs was seen to be good. Starting from the communication approach taken as well as business analysis through SWOT to see a wider scope. Ayu explained, “We hope that the Value Proposition Canvas model that we share can be applied when they assist MSMEs.”

Currently, Public Relations study program students continue to assist MSMEs in the form of marketing and creating digital content to increase their sales. VokHumFest is an annual event held by the Public Relations study program as a form of implementing student Final Exam practice. The program has received the 2021 International Council for Small Business (ICSB) Presidential Award.

Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Mareta Maulidiyanti, S.Sos., M.M., CPR., said that the industry practitioners who were presented would provide new insights to students when accompanying MSMEs in the context of VokHumFest 2024 activities. “I am sure that students will gain knowledge and experience from practitioners and applied, both when accompanying MSMEs for VokHumFest activities, as well as when they do internships in industry later,” concluded Mareta.
